Artist description Mercury Trigger may have only banded less then a year ago, but in this short time span Detroit's newest hard rockin' quartet is making a statement all their own. Combining forceful guitar riffs, deep bass lines and brilliantly distinct vocals, Mercury Trigger has been impressing audiences with their familiar yet original musical approach around the club circuit. "Our band follows the same formula that most successful acts in the business believe: if we like the way a song sounds or the way a musician plays you can't help but be influenced by it," Bill Woodley stated. "All of us had the pleasure of growing up with incredible talent like Black Sabbath and be a part of the heavy metal scene back in the day. Now we have the opportunity to tune into the radio or MTV and see bands like the Deftones making a statement in the industry. We were lucky to be a part of both times and styles, therefore letting all these elements factor into our sound." The band united a few years back when Woodley answered an ad for a bass player for a great Detroit group, Daddy Stitch. At the time Mike Apostolou and Nick Fiori were enjoying the limelight of sharing stages with many national acts. As this band decided to go their separate ways, there was still a strong chemistry between these three men. "It's kind of eerie thing, when I write the music I have a certain emotion of feeling in mind at the time," Woodley commented. "Mike writes all the lyrics. Nine times out of ten the music and lyrics mesh perfectly." after many auditions for a drummer, Adam Delahaye made up the final puzzle piece. A recent song off their demo, entitled "Fly Paper," is a perfect example of the connections between Woodley's style of writing music and Apostolou's lyrics. "You have to be in a certain place when you write a song," Woodley said. "This song signifies a time in everyone's life." Woodley lent this analogy to the song, "When a fly gets stuck on that sticky paper, the harder they try to get away from it, the worse the situation becomes. People are no different. They get into a situation, trying to get away from it or make it better, but it only gets worse." As Mercury Trigger continues to grow and establish a name both locally and nationally, they have the same goals at heart as most acts in the business. Unfortunately at this day and age, it's harder for bands to last in the industry. "I wish we grew up in the time of the Beatles," Woodley stated. "After 25 years in existence they can still put out material and sell millions of records. Our objective is much simpler then that though, we just want to be as successful as possible, appeal to as many people as possible, and write songs that have a great melody and have some sort of purpose in the people's lives."
