    Artist description
Former Misfits - Michale Graves and Dr Chud New Project - Autumn closes in, tinging green trees to orange and brown, slowly stripping them to their skeletal limbs. Soon we'll be eating supper while the sun goes down and cornstalks will rustle in the crisp air. The somber aura of our favorite time of year will inspire our inner beings to feel closer to that otherworld... that untouchable place we, the living, can vaguely understand, but long to be in. Some of us only appear human. They stand among the living as one of us, ghosts clothed in flesh and bone... and scarecrow hats. You know who they are, we buy thier albums, we go to their concerts. They are the people with an unholy gift for creating morbid melodies and horrific hooks. Their dark, brooding netherworld hymns envelope every one of us, hypnotizing our souls with a pulsating, overpowering backbeat. You have already met two cast members in this pernicious play; vocalist Michale Graves and drummer Dr. Chud, but you have never experienced them quite like this. Following their simultaneous departure from the musical monolith, The Misfits (10.00), the duo spent almost a year consolidating thier frightful musical might. During the downtime, several ties to their underworld leaked rumors of a possible project or band emerging from Graves' and Chud's efforts. Today (10.01), confirmation of a moody, angst-ladden band of chalky corpses is levied upon our world of fiends. Completing the foursome with bassist Graham Westfield and guitarist Tom Logan, the endeavor has been simply christened GRAVES. Although skepticism always surrounds new bands that boast such legacies as Michale Graves and Dr. Chud, curiosity seekers will undoubtedly be rewarded with the depth of murderous emotion GRAVES bestows upon listeners. Combining the mysticism of The Doors with the punk rock of The Misfits and the angst of Nirvana, GRAVES transcends conventional thinking for our much bereaved genre to deliver a brand new drug. However, as GRAVES' convoy of carnage was pulling itself together to unleash its hell upon the world, a new enemy attacked, rivaling anything our time has ever seen. This autumn will be unlike any we have every experienced. As the seasons take their final bow, none of us can feel as innocent as we did at one time; a time when Michale Graves and Dr. Chud rocked with a band called The Misfits, whose B-movie cliches mocked what only took place on the silver screen. The unmistakable trademark image of civilians running for their lives through city streets is no longer an image from our favorite monster movie; it rocketed straight out of hell and into downtown New York City in our very own world of the living. As fresh new GRAVES take to the stage this fall, none of us will be able to laugh abjectly at their musical eulogy. A new era has undoubtedly settled upon us, changing us forever... and bringing every one of us closer to that curious place that resides ont the other side of life.

    Artist History
A new era of music began for former Misfits vocalist Michael Graves and drummer Dr. Chud when they parted ways from The Misfits. The idea of beginning a new project formed on their way home from a show in October 2000. "The shackles have been taken off of us," said Michael, about the experiences that lead to Graves. "We're both very artsy people, and being in Graves has given us the platform to express ourselves that we never had before. As an artist, you've got to do different things. It's like freedom!" The two recruited former Fast Times bassist Graham Westfield, after Dr. Chud struck up a friendship with him after their former bands played together at the Mind Over Matter Festival in Austria. They rounded out the band by bringing in a new guitarist, Tom Logan. Tom is fresh and unpolluted by the corruption of the recording industry. The perfect victim. Describing the band's music Graves said "the angst of Nirvana with the straight-ahead punkyness of the Ramones". It blends back and forth...it's very mysterious like the Doors sometimes. It's got that darkness and the mystery to it. At times like David Bowie as well, almost showy. It's got a little color from the Misfits... that comic book color to it." "Right now, we have a song called 'Casket.' I don't know why, but it pops. It's got all of the elements. It makes the music come alive." (no pun intended) Graves is set for a nationwide run across the US in October 2001, and is set to record a demo in Los Angeles with producer Ron Goudie (Social Distortion, TSOL, GWAR among many others). But in the meantime, Graves is ready to set the world afire and giving people a taste of what is to come from this soon to be hot act. "We're going to give the Misfits fans who come to see us something new. There's so much more depth in the music, to the image and the style we're going to bring to people. It's a breath of fresh air." "These guys are crazy. They're coming up with all sorts of stuff. Creepy, spooky - there are spiders and all sorts of tangly webs. We're going to give everybody what everyone else is trying to do. We've got it."
