Artist description
1967..Grew up in brooklyn NY, early 70's listening to songs such as, Suger Hill gangs' "Rappers Delight", 70's dance, ala Sister Sledge, Earth Wind and Fire etc. Always enjoyed the music, but never gave it much thought...it was just part of growing up in the neighborhood, backround music to pinball, skate boarding and stickball games going on all around me
1977 A wierd band named "KISS" caught my eye. "I thought they were cool, and immediately gravitated toward the electric guitar". Took a few lessons and had fun jumping around to "rock and roll all night".
After mom and dad retired I was 14 or 15. I was regrettably relocated to South Florida. As I was sitting in my parents house bored, I turned to the radio for comfort. Tuning into the songs that gave me comfort in the past, I remember searching for "Funky Town", Diana Ross etc. By accident I stumbled on something that changed my life, I tuned in to the middle of van halen's Eruption and said "what the hell is that". I remember calling the radio station and asking "who is that", finally found out, got the album and found something to do... a new mission in life.. get great on guitar at all costs.
Conviced dad to take me to a music store, got me my first real guitar (a gibson less paul custom).. with lots of lessons and practice I started to get real good, but had nobody to play with. enter thy brotherly brother. James Marino, to summerize..had an ability to pick up real quick and had a natural ability on the bass, we played together in early versions of Saigon Kick but drifted apart as our musical differences broaded (james heavier, ala Skid row , Van Halen) and I Journey, Europe etc)
10 years later (1995) came together with a mixture of both styles, a more mature outlook on music and discovered a nice blend of light acoustic rock with a strong heavy bottom end. Add in some cool background harmonies, a rock solid back beat and BAM you've got yourself a recipe for success that is ofcourse provided the right A&R guy hears it, recogizes it and acts on it.
But don't hurry, the music is timeless and we just keep getting better with age, enjoy the music... |
