Artist History
Flash Gordon singer / songwriter plays flute & saxophone.
His last band for 7 years played their final gig October of 1999.
Flash wanted a change from the George Thorogood driving sound of
The Pundits and wanted a more mature, yet still rocking sound.
This project was inspired by listening to the early Fairport Convention
& Pentangle catalogues and began in December of 2000.
Hooking up with acoustic guitar player Glenn Smith,
Flash & Glenn started writing songs. Flash knew he wanted
an acoustic bass player and called jazz bassist Glenn Stevenson
into the mix.
For a change Flash decided congas & various instruments of percussion
would hold down the rhythm instead of the traditional drum kit.
The last thing in his head (musically) for this project was a violin player
and at WMNF 88.5 Tampa's Tropical Heatwave party Flash
ran into that very player. The group started writing together
and recording and have come up with a very unique sound. |
