Artist History
Carried By Six is a 4-piece Heavy Metal/Darkcore group from Santa Barbara, California. They compile a dark image and sound in the vein of Nine Inch Nails or Static-X, using synthesizers and samples as a backbone, with more emphasis on a traditional, heavy guitar tone. The vocals stretch across a wider range, from melodic and catchy to brutal, in your face screams. The result is a mix of hardcore Metal and songs that have a more commercial appeal. Formed in November of 1999, Carried By Six put together musicians from the local area to collaborate on what was originally a project band. That project eventually materialized into a full-time touring band. Carried By Six is currently playing venues in the Santa Barbara and Los Angeles area. |

The first thing that you notice while you listen to this 4 tracks demo is the quality of the recording... We're not so used to receive demos that are on the same level of labels of a certain position; this aspect has made me happier to listen to this album. The Californian quintet proposes a mix of industrial, nu-metal and darkcore whose influences come from Nine Inch Nails, but the abundance of sampled parts make me think about bands like PM5K or Static-X, even if CBS have nothing to deal with that aptitude to chaos of the two bands just mentioned. A sort of slowness characterizes all the songs, none of them has a certain impact, but all of them want to transmit great interior emotions, without any kind of violence. So the rhythmic are quite slow, but rather complex and well composed; the distorted guitars are not missing and are dark and obscure. The development of the tracks is an escalation towards more strict and faster songs, in which there are more samplings and the guitars become more aggressive. The singer is really various, going from a clean and low voice that reminds me of Type O Negative, to a distorted voice that reminds me of that of Wayne Static or Phil Anselmo off of "Vulgar...". Ive found really nice all the parts where these styles alternate quickly, until they are even together. In conclusion it's a demo over the average that could announce the coming out of a new band from the American world. |
