Artist description
Soulys is an original pop-rock music project that has it's foundations in the music of artists such as Sting, the Samples, the Dave Matthews Band, Seal, Peter Gabriel and Ani DiFranco. Based in Northern Virginia just outside of Washington, D.C., Soulys has recently compiled a four song, self-entitled demo and has begun to open up for established local/regional acts in the metro DC area.
The beginnings of Soulys were formed in May, 2001 when singer/songwriter/guitarist, Adrian Conforti, and guitarist/songwriter, Michael Koroluk, began co-writing material together. Adrian and Michael, both, had been performing since they were fairly young and, between the two, had performed with acts that opened for national recording artists such as Everything (Blackbird Records/Atlantic Distribution), God Street Wine (Mercury Records), Junior Brown (WEA Distribution), Brenda Kahn (Sony 550 Records), Sister 7 (Arista Records), and the Toasters (Moon Ska Records).
It was clear to both Adrian and Michael that the music deserved a great rhythm section. Thus, Soulys was officially formed in October, 2001 when drummer, Kitti Pongpeauk, and bassists, Tony Echols and Brian Goddard (who split time with the band), signed on to the project.
With the help of veteran studio engineer, Dusty Rose, Soulys has just finished recording their first studio demo. The four-song demo was recorded over a 12-hour period at Cue Recording Studios (www.cuerecording.com) in Falls Church, Virginia. The demo, entitled Soulys, features the songs Voices, Someday, Shine and Venus and is available (via download) from their website, www.Soulys.com.
