Sarazen is a trio of musicians of diverse backgrounds. Stan used to produce hip hop tracks, Ben was in See Spot playing the ska scene, and Diane grew up listening to everything from folk to brit pop. Artist History
The begining was back in '96 (pick up sticks) when Stan and Jorge were roommates in their bachelor pad in Alhambra. Lounge-a-palooza at Dave's. Stan wants a band but he can't play bass and sing at the same time. Does Dave's little sister Diane wanna learn how to play bass? Sure why not. Cool, now all we need is a drummer who can play Stan's crazy songs and a girl who can play three notes on the keyboard and scream "Senior Fish!" Jimmy, Autum, done. Then single Jorge wants to jam too - meet the lead guitarist.
A couple gigs later - no more Sarazen.
Meanwhile Benjamin is gigging all over town with brother Chuck in the all mighty ska boys of See Spot. Fame and fortune run away from Ben leaving him with Bugs that don't run. See Spot is breaking up. See Spot is getting back together. See Spot is breaking up. Repeat. Rinse. Flush.
Fast forward to August. In a small bedroom studio, in the burbs, songs are a brewin'. A band once dead is resurrected in the mind of founder Stan. No Jorge, no Jimmy, no Autum, but Diane the bass girl might still wanna jam.
New inspiration molds super pop rock ditties that must be played. Diane is game, but where is the drummer? How many musicians will the new Sarazen be? The search begins…
Can we steal Ben from See Spot skadom? With a copy of CALL MY NAME in hand, Stan drives to Simi late Tuesday night. Amidst the crashing of pins at Harley's, Ben and Stan exit to the car stereo. Push play. Ben's in.
Ben. Diane. Stan. Sarazen
