    Artist History
Sunglasses. A Devil. An obnoxious smart-ass. Tequiza. Salty Ball. There is so much more to describe, but Salty Ball is not about to let you know their secret. They have been keeping such a quiet profile all along, that many were wondering if there actually was a band to go along with the concept of Salty Ball. Oh, is there ever. Refusing to stick to traditional standards, Salty Ball has taken their love for rock and roll and their high-tech senses, and combined it to make probably one of the best productions to come out of Ián. It all started in the winter 1998, when two seasoned musicians, Brian Gray and Chad Lowe, picked up some acoustic guitars for some good old-fashioned songwriting. The two musicians were bored and burned out on their previous band disasters. In what was supposed to be a two-man acoustical jam, the men seemed dedicated enough to head out to the street corners to try their hand at busking. (The age-old art of playing for pocket change). When the idea never transpired, they put together the backing band for female vocalist Tiffany Rhea. It was during these sessions that Brian decided that he would record a few of his original songs also, along with the songs he had written for Tiffany Rhea. The songs were hard-edged, nineties style music, with an Alanis Morrisette sound, and the group liked them a lot. Afterwards, Brian recorded vocals to the song “Passage”. The song was catchy enough, and the vocals were outstanding. The trick that really set off the song was the vocals, layered by two additional vocal tracks. One of them was an “evil” sounding voice, and the other sounded like an AM radio voice from the 1930’s. The group decided that they could make something develop out of this, and decided to call themselves Salty Ball. They recruited former Vellum guitarist Ryan Weddle, who was an expert soloist, with lots of effects. And they also found Dan Gifford to add his strong 80’s rock drumming influence to the band’s unusual repertoire. Now Salty Ball, once only a concept, has come be a full-fledged rock band, with a full fledged driving force, and great song-writing skills. ‘Cause everyone needs at least one Salty Ball.
