Press Reviews
OMS hails from Ukraine, one of ex-USSR countries. The debut album of this dark ambient duo was released in CD format through American label Falcata-Galia Recordings (falcata-galia@geocities.com). Last year this album was released in CDR format through Scottish label Leviaphonic Records. The label describes their music as dark ambient in vein of new BURZUM with elements of MORTIIS. Well, it's not as bad as you could imagine. The album starts with really BURZUM-ish sound (Daudi Balders era), but after 5 or 6 minutes you understand that OMS has nothing common with this famous Norwegian project. It's not as simple and folk oriented as experiments of Varg Vikirnes. Peaceful and melancholic soundscapes create very nice and original atmosphere. There is no darkness; there is no evil. You get no epic or militaristic fantasy stuff as well. This is just great background music. I understand that most of our readers prefer music with a message. This is the case when you get music made with only purpose to make music. It's not your cup of tea? Well, but if you like to spend evenings alone with good books, black coffee and comfortable sofa then you might like the music of this Ukrainian project. It doesn't lead you; it doesn't force you to do something. It's just music. The stuff to enjoy. Turn off bright lights, get your book and push the play button. You like it better? I told you. Another good side of this music is that you can listen to it every day and it doesn't bore you to death.Nazgul (LETTERS FROM THE NUOVO EUROPAE MAGAZINE!) |
