Artist History
Their first CD, “That Night”, released in 1999, showcases punk influenced grinding guitars and transitions easily into moving sincerity. July, 2000 lesliwood introduced their second CD,“Ms. Led” which continues to offer emotional snapshots of life with musical hooks and Roxy’s powerful vocal style. This album delivers the energy and raw emotion lesliwood’s audience has come to expect. Originally from Detroit, Lesli Wood a/k/a Roxy relocated to Seattle in 1997. Roxy played solo for a year and released the demo "Insides". In 1998, Wood enlisted the talents of Matt Menovcik a/k/a Clark, originally as drummer and currently as bassist. Clark is a self-taught multi-instrumentalist. Bootsy, a Seatown transplant from New York, adds the hard-hitting drum edge to the live performances and adds the raw power and energy to lesliwood's sound. Violet is an accomplished guitarist, formerly of the Seattle band "Girl With 100 Heads". Violet's experienced and technically proficient guitar work completes the band's sound and pushes the music into full-fledged punk-pop ear candy. |

Press Reviews
"This is arena rock for the indie kids" - Amazon.com/////“Incomparable passion, equally powerful solo acoustic or with full electric band. She’s lyric driven, goosebump inducing, truly alternative MUSIC… lesliwood does it all…well.”------Holly Figueroa, Founder of “Indiegrrl” /////// “Reluctant to be categorized into any one movement, they strive to create their own. With fierce determination and vibrant talent, they're succeeding.”------Tacoma Reporter ///// “…a direct and swift style that bounds along like Ani Difranco…”-----The Rocket //////// "a great up-and-coming band worth seeing"-----The Stranger ////// "This punk princess puts it together nicely. Lesli Wood's gigantic voice is both piercing and filled with stormy rage, yet the singing of this Seattle rocker is often outlined by a softer edge as she waxes and wanes between slamming punk explosions and haunting folk-punk acoustic songs. Wood's voice, which is juxtaposed against her hard-core electric guitar and bass playing, makes this CD a very quick listen. From soothing to ferocious, Wood comfortably eludes categorization as she spins tales of love and sadness."-----Fran Gray, Two Louies Magazine |
