The singer's voice sounds broken at times, in a throw in the towel and check out vibe. Other times he sounds like he's just had it with life and love. The guitars weep all over the place (especially the undulating tones of the pedal steel), and the acoustics are warmer than a covered batch of fresh corn tortillas.
