    Artist description
JerkWater Jive is the carnie operating the skanking tilt-a-whirl - they aren’t steering it, and they can’t make it go any slower, but one by one the children step up to take a ride. The music of JerkWater Jive is an exhilarating blend of Jamaican ska sensibility and the best of snarling punk rock.

    Artist History
Known for their energetic live performance, JerkWater Jive has played many of the finest establishments in their home-town, Columbus, OH, including Bernie’s Distillery, Chelsea’s, Oldfield's, and Little Brothers. JerkWater Jive has rocked out in Cleveland venues Peabody’s Down Under, The Grog Shop, and the Cleveland Agora Ballroom, dropped the punch-bowl in Oxford, OH and Terra Haute, IN, and have become a regular habit like drinking, to the Ohio State University WaterSki Team's 3 Annual Pig Roasts. JerkWater Jive has raised money for local and national causes by playing benefit concerts for the Lancaster Skate Park and Amnesty International, and by contributing a song to "A Little Something for the Kids", a compilation from Fevered Pitch Records benefiting Children’s HeartLink. This summer, JerkWater Jive took over the Volcom stage on the Cleveland stop of the 2000 Van's Warped Tour in the Flats at Nautica. Like a Rottwieler in heat, they held the audience captive as dirtbikes flew overhead, clearing even the tallest of mohawks. With an ever-growing following, JerkWaterJive continues to produce new music to which burgeoning audiences skank, stomp, salsa, pogo and lindy-hop.
    Group Members
Jazz-trained percussionist and beat merchant Kris Games, the rumbling, redeeming bass boogie of the Good Pastor Chuck, and one-two punch of guitarist Der Spinne, make for an airtight rhythm section. IdiotBoy Rick on Tenor Sax, DeCaff on Trombone, and Slick on Trumpet, comprise one of the hottest (maybe the loudest) horn trios in the midwest, melodies joined seamlessly like the colors of a Carnival Cruise sunset, with Kathie Lee and Regis being keel-hauled by their ankles. Vocalist and Master of Ceremonies K-Bob Skarlshibbyshibby tops the mad mixture with his impressive range, from howling rant to lickety split rhyme, capturing the best of roaring punk to cool island riddim, and the shit is ALL funny.

    Press Reviews
    * "Boo-Chaka!!!!!" - The G Spot ** "JerkWaterJive - I once found a storm trooper named Phil sleeping at his post in communications, I woke him and asked him "What the fuck are you doing, you lazy bastard!!!!?!?!?!", to which he replied "I'm not lazy, I'm just drunk." I then promptly gave him a light saber enema. I then found out that it was all the Ewoks fault for throwing the damm kegger in the first place! I felt guilty for a while, but then I had an ice cream and wrote a review or two and felt much better...The moral of the story is...if you like ska, you'll like JerkWaterJive, if you don't like ska, then you should probrobly not listen to them, you may be offended by the youth energy, Geezer. I can not deny that JerkWaterJive is one of the best Ska bands that I have heard, and definately as good, if not better than Buck-O-Nine. My advice to you is, get your axes out to San Diego, you'd have a draw of 1000 in no time flat. rating: ALMOST GOOD" - Darth Vader ** "The police sirens really drive this song all the way. Goes from hardcore mix to superslow Russian folk, then to high school band sound. Spoken word segment interrupts heavy metal part. It's really cool because it sounds exactly like a LeAnn Rimes/Marilyn Manson type duet." - Potato Aspercreme Schoolbus MP3.com station owner ** "What can I say? This band is amazing live, and the tape is pretty good. The guys I talked to from this band are really cool. At the show they played like 10 or 11 songs that werent on the tape so I recommend seeing them live. Please go and support these guys. They have a kick ass live show and I think everybody should see them once or twice in their lives." - James from UMA (http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Stage/5375/) ** "Reviewed: Lazy - Thus far, the best ska I've heard on mp3.com, I love the mix, the use of horns is superb, and damn, do I love the song as a whole! Excellent stops to make sure that we know what the song is about... (L A Z Y) The song put a smile on my face and a skank in my step, and as soon as my sorry college butt can pull together $5.99, I'm going to buy the DAM CD. I recommend that any other ska fans out there save their pennies, collect bottles, or get a job to buy this cd!" - Nick Cramer - Guitarist for The Capricious Dogmatics (www.mp3.com/capdogs) ** "JerkWaterJive: Lazy - This is a really great fusion of Ska and Punk. I'm a sucker for bands with a horn section, so I really liked these guys. The band has a ton of energy and should be a great live act. The one song I listened to left me wanting more. I think I'll go download a few more." - Max - Nimbus 2000
