Artist History
Fuz started as a power-pop-rock trio in September of 1997. By the spring of 1999 the band had begun establishing itself around Ohio. After being part of CAMP BUZZ 6, an Ohio music fest featuring the top unsigned bands of the midwest, the band's notoriety started to build. The bands singles "Pole Position" and "Silvertongue" began to get local airplay, and the band was reviewed by the New York music site, Inner Noise."“Pole Position” is a straight-ahead, no holes barred rocker that kicks it from 0:00:01 to the end. “Silvertongue”, the second single is deeper in sound and curves around a killer hook and a beautiful change in the final minute. It’s that change that provides the transition that makes the song so incredibly memorable. These guys know how to rock and play from the pocket, exactly what makes them a wonderful expression of pop-punk freedom."But in the summer of 99, bassist Sean Rorke left the band."It was by no means on bad terms, or have anything to do with a conflict in the band," drummer/vocalist Mike Sammons proclaimed. "Sean was from Boston and had moved here with his wife a few years back. We had a blast for a while, but we all knew the time had come for him to make the right decision for his family. He's a talented musician, but he's an even better friend. We wish him the best!" The band pushed on. There were booked for gigs the band did not want to cancel, so they decided to try it as a two-piece. Mark doubled-up his guitar amp with a bass amp, Mike took over all vocal duties and the rest is history. Fuz gets obvious comparisons to Local H, but they don't seem to mind."Hey, Local H is a big influence," states Mark. "How could they not be? They leave everything they have on stage no matter where they play. We have the same ideas. We're just showing you what we've got, take it or leave it. Besides, we're having a great time with this anyways, it's a cool concept. We just weren't ready to call it quits."Fuz's debut album is due out early 2000. |
