Artist description
The band describes their sound as: "we just play good music that combines the best of all of our influences into a unique, individual sound. 'The songs vary from the melodic with harmonious vocals of the track CALIBRATE ME to the driving, harder-edged STUCK reminiscent of 90s band Live. The self-contemplative lyrical ballad LIKE YOU DO is a reflective song that fans can relate with.
The songs deal with relationships, ballads, and inner turmoil. High energy alternative tracks TREVOR and MAXIMILLIAN (both available for download) complete the mix for a more well-rounded range. Slice's quality of music and diverse talent make the band worthy of being categorized somewhere on the verge of alternative and pop radio play. The CD is highly enjoyable for listening before a night out on the town or on a laid-back Sunday morning. John Hinson - Quoted from MSC Matrix April 2002

Artist History
SLICE began in 2000 when its founding members, Jason Creamer and Ryan Crocker, decided to get serious about writing music and start a band. The duo had played in many different bands throughout middle school and high school and had lots of experience playing other peoples music. They decided that if they liked playing other
peoples music then they would have more fun playing and performing their own. So they began by writing a handful of songs on acoustic guitars. Once the songs were completed acoustically, they would then be rewritten with electric guitars and live drums. Once Jason and Ryan had six songs written, they decided to begin auditioning bass players. This proved to be difficult, but hope lay in the hands of one Frenk Boltong. Frenk was introduced to the band by an ex-girlfriend of Ryans that was in school with the bass player. Though he was only a senior in high school at the time, Frenk proved to be an extraordinary enhancement to bands the bands sound and creativity. With Frenk on board, the band decided to look no farther than Jasons own brother, Michael, to handle the rhythm guitar and
background vocal duties. Michael also contributed new ideas as well as new material for the band. The full band began rehearsing and writing new material for a demo they planned to record in the summer of 2001. The band describes its sound as Strictly Alternative. After recording a 6 song demo in Atlanta, Georgia, SLICE began to play live shows at various venues in Athens and Macon. In late 2001, the bands song LIKE YOU DO was selected by SBS Records, an Atlanta record label affiliated with local artist Michelle Malone, to be on their 2002 CD sampler. With the bands musical sound constantly maturing, SLICE is looking forward to playing bigger shows and getting heard by more and more people. |
