Artist description
The David Clare Band are an explosive folk-rock group from Dublin, Ireland. They are led by singer/guitarist David Sheridan Clare, who was born in New York in 1971. David moved to Dublin in July 2000, and immediately formed the group, whose self-titled debut was released on A.C. Records in 2001.
The band's poetic songs, which are written by David, have been compared by reviewers to those of Bob Dylan and Elvis Costello, and they speak of romantic, social, and spiritual matters with insight and wit. The band's music is beautifully enhanced by keyboardist Rónán Johnston, whose playing has graced many Irish chart hits (as a member of The Black Velvet Band and Emmaus, and as a popular session musician). Other members of the group include Michael McCabe on lead guitar, Bobby O'Bannon on bass, Steve Shauf on drums, and Joanne Johnston (Rónán's wife) on backing vocals.
Since forming, the group have been playing shows in Ireland, the US, and the UK. For more information about the band, visit their website at www.thedavidclareband.com or write to them at DClare1@eircom.net.
