Artist description
The Basement Shift is a young, energetic four
piece creating grooves from as many different
music styles as possible. While their sound draws
from elements of jazz, funk, and straight
up rock and roll, the backbone of their music
stems from improvisational jam sessions. As they
work together and follow each other to build up
their jams, it's hard not to bob your head to
their grooves. |

Artist History
Greg Santacruz and Brian started jammin together in the
summer of 1999. Pretty soon Greg Heaney joined the band and
for a while just the three of them played, two guitars and drums,
but no bass. So when the three friends decided to sign up for a spring concert
in 2000, they knew they needed a bassist. So they pulled this kid named
Ralph off the street, taught him a few songs and did the show. Unfortunately Ralph
sucked so it was just the 3 of them again. Then in the summer of 2000 they
decided to invite their mutual friend Tyler Lucas, yet another guitarist, into the
band. Although their jams had 3 guitars and no bass, they knew that they had
something going. Knowing that the bass guitar would complete their unique sound,
Greg Heaney decided to buy a bass. From that point on they have
been shifting instruments around, creating music and trying to
improve every time they play. The Basement Shift's goal is to keep
making good music to share with as many people as possible. |

Press Reviews
This is our Official Taping Policy:
The Basement Shift allows every sort of taping at their shows whether it be audio or video. Although we ask that if you are planning to video tape one of our shows to please pick a location within the venue where the camera itself will not obstruct any person's view. For example setting up your camera on a tripod near the soundboard would be preferred. As for sounboard links: Soundboard links will be given on a first come, first served basis. We typically only have room for one DSBD link. So with that in mind it is likely that if anyone wants to tape they should bring their microphones and such as well. Power will be given IF AND ONLY IF it is EASILY AND READILY available. The Basement Shift also encourages anybody who wishes to take photos at our concerts to do so. However it is preferred that you use a camera that has the ability to take pictures without a flash as it is sometimes very distracting to the band. |
