Artist History Jai is a 27-year-old, self-taught vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and visual artist originally from Joshua Tree, California who now resides in San Francisco, California. As a teenager, she suffered an obscure muscular disorder characterizes itself in mobility problems and muscle weakness and spent much of her time composing music as well as painting and drawing durring her 2 year rehabilitation. Her electronic rock music is composed solo by recording layers upon layers herself, and serves as a creative outlet for exploring the unknown. She devotes most of her time to her recording studio and pursuing an electronic music degree at SFSU. Jani feels that it is important for women to get more involved with the composition, electronics, and engeneering of music. "In the mainstreem music world, most women either have the music written for them by someone else, or they are folksy guitarists. I think it's time for women to explore the full range of our talents and break out of these tired cliches."
