Artist History
WHIPPING POST is based in Strömstad, Sweden and has been playing a year together.
The idea about the band is to combind heavy rock with acustic instruments like
Mandolin, harmonica och didjerido . That’s why Whipping Post has two kinds of
Liveset so they can play every where.
One set with drums and electric guitars for bigger shows and one for small pubs with
Acustic instruments and kongas and other percussions.
Whipping Post was found by singer, guitarrist Willy and drummer Ole-Petter after their last band Hippie of Today broke up. They got in touch with Willys old friend Krille who joined as the lead guitarist. The band was completed by guitarist, singer Tomas
And his friend Tony who played Bass and sang backing vocals.
In the end of Sep 2001 the first rehearsal saw the light and they where jamming together untill the beginning of Jan 2002 when they debuted live in a small pub in their hometown Strömstad.
The Band recorded their first Demo â€Angry†Feb 2002 in Studio Mega i Bollebygd
Outside of Gothenbourg, Sweden and was produced by Bullen and Jörgen Cremonece.
One week later WHIPPING POST played support to the Gothenbourgband Deathstars in Strömstad .
Whipping Post has also played support to bands like Latin Kings och Hardcore Superstar.
In the summer of 2002 more shows were played , both in Sweden and in Norway.
I Okt 2002 they recorded their second demo “Pinheadâ€, again in Studio Mega in Bollebygd.
During Nov, Dec Whipping Post were part of a music contest in Gothenbourg, Sweden
Called “PartilleRocken†They won a studiorecording. Jan-April 2003 was a time
Whipping Post spend many ours in their rehearsalroom , writing and jamming new material.
In April 2003 Guitarist Krille left the band due to family reasons.
Singer Willy picked up the electric Guitar and started writing
even more heavy songs that were rehearsed.
A new Demo are expected to be recorded in the end
of 2003.
