    Artist History
Shade South started in early 2001. Don Anderson and Kevin Yannaccone got together and started playing just for fun. After writing several songs, it just became more than two guitarists having fun. Kevin and Don recruited a young drummer by the name of Rickey King. Rickey was awesome with his beats. Shade South soon after recruited Chris Byerly for bass. Chris had a unique style of playing that really added to the band. Plans were made for a studio visit to record the first album, Shade South. Austin Russell was found one night at a club playing with another band. We invited him to band practice and that was it. He came to the studio with us 2 weeks later. Shade South started playing shows and was really starting to get around. Of course, once things start going good, something has to come in and screw it up. Chris' personality became a constant clash with the rest of the band. He didn't want to be part of the family, and that is a requirement of Shade South. So Chris was pushed to leave the band. The remaining members took a break and started writing more music. Three months later, they have recruited Trey Heath to cover the bass part of the band, and he was doing it well. We quickly went back into the studio to start work on a new full length album to show our growth. Four songs were completed and the band started promoting again. After a disappointing show at a bar called StoneWalls, we were forced to shutdown because a few people thought we were too loud, the band immediately had several other bookings. We played an opening act at the HighPoint Pinch, which was less than satisfying. But how satisfied can you be from only 45 minutes of music? The next weekend we played a 2 hour show at The Yellow Submarine in Memphis, TN. That was a very successful show. The moods varied from fans jumping around trying to start a mosh pit, to everyone sitting back flicking the bic for a flame of unity during the southern ballad Highway. The band has now taken another change, by forcing the drummer, Rickey King, out of the band. He has since been replaced by John McCormick. John has only been with the band a couple of weeks, but is already adding a nice new influence to the Shade South sound. Another studio visit is planned for the up coming weeks. Gigs are planned starting the 19th of July. Shade South will be making teaser appearances here and there between now and then, but only small sets that are quick and fun. Try to sneak a peak at what is coming at our next show. Through all that has happened, and that is going to happen, we will always remain with the vision. Everyone needs a day in the Shade.
