Artist description When attempting to define Heady’s style as an artist, one must first understand the different personas that comprise Heady’s musical drive. First, there is NOYS (Not On Your Shit), solely responsible for creative works. A believer in originality and distinction, NOYS produces and writes songs that are inspired by a variety of moods and issues. Music production is a direct reflection of whatever energies are present in life at that moment. For NOYS, the music determines the content and rhythm of the lyrics, which in effect, will become part of the production… once Head-Roc is activated! Head-Roc is the persona responsible for the high accuracy execution of NOYS’s creative works. Whether in the studio or on stage, Head-Roc must relay to the listener the intensity and meaning of each song. Over ten years of rhyming experience has made Head-Roc a master of the vocal arts, making him a favorite among many of his peers. Artist History For almost ten years the DC Hip-Hop scene has been the breeding ground for some of the most talented and dynamic acts on the East Coast. Our local talent has garnered respect from Hip-Hop peers all over the world, despite Washington, DC’s stereotype as a city known strictly for Go-Go Music. For years, one artist has made it his mission to let the world know that DC Hip-Hip is distinctive and deserves to be heard by all! That artist’s name is Head-Roc. Debuting on the scene in 1993, Heady, as he is most commonly referred, quickly established a dominating presence. In 1994 Heady became one of the founding members of the DC super group Infinite Loop, undoubtedly DC’s native son favorites. As a member of Infinite Loop, Heady has been largely responsible for the groups rise to the top of DC’s Hip-Hop elite which birthed the release of their 1999 critically acclaimed EP “First Contact.” Along with being a member of Infinite Loop, Heady is also a member of, without question the most revered band in the DC Metropolitan Area, Three Levels of Genius (3LG). What started out as a temporary fill in role, quickly became an integral one as part of a band that already had established its musical brilliance. Being a member of 3LG has greatly expanded Heady’s exposure on a musical and personal level. Appealing to more than just Hip-Hop listeners, 3LG have rocked stages with legends ranging from A Tribe Called Quest and Run DMC, to Buckshot LeFonque and Bernie Worell (Parliament). It is this wide fan base that has made 3LG winners of The Washington Area Music Association’s “Best Hip-Hop Group” award the past four years in a row. As a member of both these groups, Heady has gained of level of respect that has made him a prominent pillar in the DC music scene. His name is synonymous with Leadership, Organization, and Show Rocking!
