Artist description
Singer/songwriter Jamie Hartman is a proper Englishman with the spirit of a practiced
New Yorker. his musical career moved into high gear in 1994 when he took home top honors at Capitol Radio’s (London) biggest band contest, RAW ‘94. His first U.K. single, “Raid Your Head” (Polydor/Germany) became the ‘video of the week’ on VH-1 in Europe and a promotional arena tour sponsored by Levi Strauss & Co. ensued. Many songs and wild nights later, Hartman found himself an artist with the U.S. based Peermusic, the world’s largest independent publisher and home to Buddy Holly, Donovan and David Foster.
In 1998, Jamie Hartman came to New York for an east coast U.S.tour. So impressed with his talent was JSM music producer Mark Morris that he convinced Hartman to return to New York to write and record for JSM. While writing for JSM, Hartman has lent his talents to compositions for Country Music Television, Dr. Pepper, Mazda, McDonald’s, Twix, Kool-Aid, Auto/Nation USA and the May Company, among others.
Jamie’s songwriting skills continued to morph and strengthen until one night at JSM studios in New York, four new original songs were born. The chemistry was tangible and immediate. A few weeks later, an entire album of original songs was complete. JSM was providing the ultimate springboard to capture Hartman’s creativity for the music world.
More recent collaborations have seen Jamie working out of Babyface’s studio “Brandon’s Way” in Los Angeles with Jean Marie Horvat who’s recent credits include Babyface, Michael Jackson, Backstreet Boys, ‘NSYNC and Jennifer Lopez.
This year, in between taking time to set up his New York based studios, Jamie has been writing and producing hit songs for other artists including K-otic “Really Don’t Think So” on Jive Records which sold triple platinum in Holland, Earth’s “Don’t Tell Anybody” which peaked inside the top 20 on the Billboard charts in Japan, Noa Tishby “The One Thing That Matters” on MCA Records. Jamie and his writing partner, Mark Nelkin, have three more songs currently on hold for Virgin Records UK including “Don’t Tell Anybody” and “Bedroom Eyes” for the Virgin artist Laura, as well as “Summer Day” the first single for Virgin band Speedway. Jamie is also writing songs and producing John Frieda’s twin blonde models Brit and Alex and has already produced music for their spots on MTV.
Great artists have a true gift. It is the ability to write and perform songs that touch you and give you the feeling that those lyrics could never be sung any other way but to that music and with that melody. Jamie has that gift.
