Press Reviews
Forte Magazine Issue No.253, Date Thursday 16th August 2001
Set to be the next big thing from Ballarat, look out for Wishbone,
Who will be headlining Bridge Mall Inn September 20th.
The Ballarat based band described themselves as being
an "Orginial Guitar Driven Heavy Metal Rock Band".
Mark "Bones" Burnett along with his brother Paul were responsible
for the band coming together in 1998. "It took some tome to get it together,
especially the auditioning process. But we have a tight knit group, both
in our music and our fredinships which is what were aiming for".
This 5 peice band consisting Mark as lead singer, Paul on guitar, Dan Court as the lead guitarist,
Nathan Wilson on bass and Glenn Panke playing drums have an orignial sound
that is raw and in your face. Mark said a diverse range of music has influenced Wishbone
during their 3 years working together as a band, and they include rock ballads among their
lineup of orignial songs. "With a difference of 10 years between the oldest and the youngest
members of the band, the music that has influenced us ranges from 80's rock & pop to the music of today.
I like some particular bands, but i cannot contribute them to the sounds of our band".
People from the Geeelong region may have seen Wishbone performing at the Barwon Club and the Railway Hotel
over the past few years.
In 1999 the band produced a demo cd of 4 of their best songs.
However Mark sais that the demo is slightly outdated and wishbone
is hoping to lay down some new tracks soon.
"We are hoping to get things going with gigs all over the place. we are looking to spread ourselves
into the Melbourne scene and get a demo out to as many people as possible and just see what happens,"
Said Mark.
