    Artist History
"Rock music doesn't come much more radio friendly..." -San Diego Union/Tribune. In a day and age when musicians feel the pressure to create the next big thing, Scorch smiles, picks up the guitar and places you totally responsible for your upcoming reaction. He knows what you want to hear whether you're a headbanger, club hopper, bible thumper, or a "I don't even really listen to music, but I like this", walking drone. Good songs period! These are songs you can relate to. These are songs that include you, no matter who YOU are. Influenced by the singer/songwriters of the 1970's, Scorch writes better than good songs, then delivers them in a voice that could stop an all out alien invasion. It's no wonder why his CD "Pop With A Twist" was nominated for "Best Pop/Rock Album" at the San Diego Music Awards and thousands of copies have been purchased since he released it, on his own, in the summer of 2001. Scorch has played county fairs, clubs and bars. He had his song "OK" featured on ESPN's coverage of the Rock & Roll Marathon, sang the National Anthem at Dodger Stadium, makes countless elemetary school appearances, and hosts a weekly fundraiser for homeless youths when he's not on the road. People in places such as Florida, Ohio, Nevada, Arizona and his home state of California participate with campfire passion during live performances. "People love to sing along to my songs and just as luck would have it, they're spread out all over the place. So I'll just keep playing until I've covered every state, Nicaragua, Never-neverland and Lake Gitche Gumee." When Scorch makes a fan, he makes a FAN! One female fan on vacation from Ohio went as far as riding a unicycle a mile and a half, in rush hour traffic, to the station of San Diego's #1 morning radio show just so they would play her favorite singer/songwriter on the air. They did and listeners responded, "Smash!" Watch for the "Unicycle Radio Promotional Tour" coming to a city near you.

San Diego Union/Tribunes "Night & Day" Scorch - "Pop With A Twist" (Fua) Rock music doesn't come much more radio friendly than this latest album from local artist Scorch. His densely produced collection contains 10 cuts of dynamic, well sung and marvelo usly played acoustic based guitar based pop rock. "Pop With A Twist" opens strong with the swirling piano lines of "Stranger" and continues strong, through the soulful "Let Love Pass", complete with Hammond organ solo, as well as 8 more. Although it's th e dazzingly full band arrangements that initially draw the attention, it's Scorch's plaintive voice that will keep you returning to this charming disc. -Bart Mendoza ********************** 7 out of 10 Goes well with: Glen Phillips, Natalie Merchant, st aring at the computer Damn that good music. You're sitting there peacefully at the computer, trying to get some work done, and a CD just happens to be spinning. Suddenly, your fingers are tapping, then your head's bobbing, and sometimes there's even a fo ot kick at the end of the drum lick. Before you know it, you're a one-man band in an empty room and you look in the mirror and realize that it's time for a break from the stereo. . . Scorch's solo-debut is worth this loss of dignity. Formerly the fron tma n for two-time San Diego Music Award nominees, Grays Well, Scorch is San Diego born and bred. He intoxicates the ears with a blender full of folk, rock, blues, and alt-country -- honest, hopeful singer/songwriter bliss. This man's got acoustic soul, folks. Pop with a Twist is a serious examination of moods. Scorch writes convincing lyrics that are then sung in one of music's most beautiful voices, most notably on "How About Me" and "Let Love Pass." His acoustic twiddling is soothing, down-home porch material; but Pop's most exciting moments come when he detours into electric distortion ("As Is") and emo-reverb ("Stranger"). The bodily noises at the end of "Sober Today" may be a bit juvenile for this mature performer, but hey, maybe it's an inside jok e. In the hands of a less-skilled musician, Pop with a Twist would be mere well-recorded background music. But Scorch carries out his musical mission with a fervor that makes this album hard to ignore. --Caley Cook *****************
