Artist History
Singer/Songwriter Kristina Erickson has never let anything stand in her way of reaching her goals. This Seattle native’s lyrics are a reflection of life and speak to the heart. Her original music style, similar to Jewel, Dave Matthews and Sarah McLaughlin, has an appeal to wide demographics.
Kristina began her songwriting career just a few years ago and has already won top ratings from Billboard Magazine’s Songwriters Contest. From the ‘Cuz I Can Collection, she has already created a strong fan base. Anxious to give her music to the public, Kristina created Little Bean Productions to produce and distribute her original songs. Performing is second nature to this seasoned professional as she has toured around the United States and Europe with various singing groups.
Classically trained and performing since age seven, Kristina has always risen to the top. Kristina’s music background is strong. As a young girl, she studied piano for years, not to mention the clarinet, saxophone, and music theory. Over the years, Kristina had performed with a handful of select vocal ensembles, which toured eight countries and both coasts of the United States. In their travels, the groups took home prestigious awards such as First Prize in the Vienna Youth and Music Festival and the Grand Prize in the Kathaumieux Music Festival in Canada. Later, Kristina began to sing in a band which performed jazz and pop tunes in the Bellevue/Seattle area for about a year. Soon, Kristina began to write her own music and partnered with veteran composer/drummer Stephen Thomas Cavit. Ready to move forward and market her music, Kristina created her first EP “‘Cuz I Can” with her company Little Bean Productions. Her first public performance of her original music was in May 2001. Kristina was a finalist for the State of Washington Vocal Talent Competition performing “Lessons”.
This last year, Kristina and Stephen have finished their new EP “Touch the Sky” with help from Bad Animals Studio owner/guitarist Tom McGurk. This holiday season, Kristina will be featured on the new Christmas in the Northwest CD which features prominent local artists. The group is now playing live in the local music scene and the new website is coming soon – www.kristinaerickson.com.
Kristina has other interests as well. She studied dance for years including jazz and tap dancing and eventually taught young dance students. She also spent years mastering Tae Kwon Do, which she later became a Black Belt and regional champion. What else could she add to the mix? Kristina is also a triathlete. She has completed three triathlons over the last year, one of which was an Olympic Distance in Chicago.
