Artist description
County Farm is a bluegrass (an' such) band
operating out of Asheville, North Carolina.
The Band's founder, Jay Mullenax, chose the
name because, in his words, "That's where we're
all gonna end up"
(A county farm is a prison labor camp).
The "Inmates" have been staying out of trouble
by pickin', grinnin', and hollerin' for
audiences across the Southeast.
Whether picking instrumentals at break-neck
tempos, or crooning humorous little ditties,
County Farm delivers tight, driving music
infused with bluegrass, old-time, and jazz.

Press Reviews
"It was a real pleasure to hear this band's fine
brand of bluegrass music--this is as down-home
as it gets. With traditional mountain melodies,
warm friendly vocals, and no pretension
whatsoever, County Farm is a great reminder of
what bluegrass is all about."

More from Ivan: "Hey, computers ain't all bad.
I heard about the County Farm guys through
mp3.com and recently found em pickin at a jam
in Ashville, NC when I took a big ol roadtrip.
Had a blast and even got to sit in with em the
next night at the Town Pump in Black Mountain
( a great place to see music if you're ever
around there--they know their bluegrass!).
Gotta say that outta the whole 6 week trip
around the country, I had the best time pickin
with County Farm--high energy stuff that really
engaged the audience plus they're the coolest
folks you could hope to meet. If you're booking
shows or festivals, I guarantee any crowd would
love this band! " ..................................
"For years the Drovers Old Time Medicine Show has
seemingly cornered the market on hillbilly music
here in the Upstate. But they're by no means
alone in trying to preserve the rural heritage
of the Carolinas. Asheville based band
County Farm seems like a bunch of kindred
spirits, delivering a rousing brand of
bluegrass that places as much emphasis on the
grinnin' as it does the pickin'.
But dont think it's all about shenanigans;
these boys can deliver instrumental bliss
with breakneck tempos as well."

"Asheville's own County Farm is marked by
expressive fiddle work and a knack for
unearthing rare gems to showcase alongside
the bluegrass standards you're more likely to
recognize......the band has established a
comfortable groove and now appears to be
expanding it's fan base as well as it's
repertoire..." -Mountain Xpress Feb 13 2002
