Artist History
With influences ranging from Jimi Hendrix to Eric Clapton to Sting and the Wallflowers, Chicago area native Scott Deans has created an eclectic package of music to suit most every musical taste. Spending time in London playing guitar with a variety of talented musicians helped him hone in on his craft and the workings of the music business. After leaving London, Deans headed back to the States settling for a while in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he put together a band with a couple of friends. The group traveled throughout Wisconsin and the Midwest playing funk, R&B and good ol' rock and roll. Soon, his vagabond instinct took over and he began performing all over the United States foregoing a permanent address for a while. He gained an appreciation for all types of music while playing with a diverse group of musicians in a variety of incarnations. Deans disliked the labels of musical style, so he listened and performed with an ear for innovation. He learned to like everything from lilting horns to pan flutes to screaming guitars and everything in between. During his stint as a touring musician, Deans began to get serious about writing and production, spending many a morning after the gig in his hotel room strumming melodies and thinking about the perfect recording project. After life on the road began taking its toll, Deans moved back to the Chicago area where he built a home studio and began a new journey, this time without leaving home. A talented multi-instrumentalist and singer, Deans wrote, recorded, and produced his first solo album entitled "Scott Deans - Plugged in Again." Though the new CD was a genuine solo effort, Deans has always felt like "just a member of a band," letting the music as a whole shine through. "Plugged in Again," was just released in 2001 and Deans has already begun working on his new project. About his next endeavor he cautions, "Don't look for sameness. Next time, I have no idea what will come out. But I do know that it will always be a labor of love."
