    Artist History
The band that is now known as Rancor started in 1999. The first line up, then called ZeRo, was Richard Lane on guitar and vocals, Steve Macaulay on bass, and Mat Laszczak on drums. None of them could play or sing. They practiced a few Nirvana covers and wrote two originals entitled "About You" (the current version of the song is much better than the original) and "Used and Broken" (you can look for this song to be revamped and recorded in the future). Soon after, friends of the band, John Barry and Dan Ryan joined on guitar and Rich focused on vocals. With the new line up they called themselves SoulBleed (yeah I know its gay), practiced hard, wrote more songs (Sick and Twisted, Never Again, You Were There, Goodbye, and Stop), and slowly grew as musicians. This time period between 2000-2001 was the time of greatest growth in the band. They again changed their name, this time to Twisted Element, and recorded a demo album during this time with all six songs they had written... and it basically sounded like crap. It was recorded and mixed in one day, it was not produced or mastered, and the engineer (you know who you are) was not helpful at all. Although not very happy with the results of the studio, a learning experience was had by all. In a few months there started to be a lot arguments in the band over what the band should be called and what direction the should go musically. There was a mutual decision between Mat and the rest of the band that he shouldn't be the drummer anymore (Mat is still seen as the 6th member of the band, he is still close friends with everyone in the band, and has continued to help the band in many ways). There were try outs for a new drummer, but they were unsuccessful. At the same time Pat Barry, an extremely talented drummer and song writer, was having troubles with his own band, the now defunct "The Fix" . Hearing of this turmoil, Rich asked Pat if he was interested in joining what was now called Rancor. After jamming for 10 minutes it was obvious that there was overwhelming musical chemistry. The band dug in and practiced relentlessly. Old songs were revamped and new ones were written (Don't Look Back, Nothing to Call my Own, Lost, Sheltered, Boy from Medfield, and the Intro of the new CD). The band was new, fresh, and ready for the next step. They returned to the studio, smarter and more determined then ever. The CD is now completed and when you hear it you'll be amazed. Rancor is ready to show the world what it has to offer.
