Artist History
One Strange Day is comprised of Rainbow Starr (aka Robert Filippelli) on drums, Bear Pimentel on bass, Anthony Stallone on electric guitar, and Walter Frattaroli on acoustic guitar and lead vocals. This is the story of how OSD came to be.
The four first hooked up together as a band in the Fall of '99, although they had known each other for a while before music ever entered their lives.
Anthony was introduced to Walter at the age of 9, when they began attending the same grade school. They wouldn't become close friends though until their junior year of high school. This is about the time they first met Bear & Rainbow, veterans of the high school talent show circuit as members of the 60s & 70s rock cover band "the Night Lads". Anthony and Walter still had not even touched instruments during Bear & Rainbow's legendary run as high school rock icons. With solid Beatles' influences, they rocked solidly for 2 years until they graduated. Rainbow went on to front a small cover band, while Bear went on to experiment with playing every possible musical instrument he could get his hands on. Trading in his guitar for a bass, then trading in his bass for a drum set and then coming back full circle and trading in his drum set for a Strat. This is about the time Anthony started playing guitar and refining his craft with a couple of different local rock bands. Walter would start playing a few years later and it would not be long before the two would start writing songs together.
The two wrote numerous songs but were tired of being a duet, so that is when the search for band members began. Bear, who had always remained a drinking and partying buddy over the years, agreed to join. Since all three were natural guitar players, Bear who had experimented with numerous instruments, agreed to play bass. But they needed a strong back beat. Rainbow was the natural choice for all of us who remembered his exceptional ability to crank out a drum groove back in high school. But it would be months before the legendary fusion would take place.
The four would not play music together until a chance encounter at a local nightclub. The years of talking about hooking up finally came to a conclusion on one strange day when the four played together for the first time to feel each other out and see if there was any musical chemistry that existed. The chemistry was instant, as the four played together for hours and even cranked out their first song as a band, "I'm on Fire". The harder part was coming up with a name. Due to lack of ideas, the four named the band Superstar69 for a while. This was to symbolize the hardcore lifestyle and bubble-gum feel, yet it did not fit the music. The band finally settled on the name One Strange Day. The name symbolizing how one day can change the course of one's life. One Strange Day is a living example of this.
OSD's music offers a subtle blend of modern alternative and classic pop. You can hear their influences come together in all their songs. Bear, a Beatles fanatic, loves the raw bass beat with the steady groove. Rainbow, the technical sage of the band, is influenced by Neal Peart but has the ability to take it down and make the drum beat something that gets your feet tapping and body grooving. Tony, influenced by everything from U2 and Sugar Ray to AC/DC and STP, gives the band a little more of a rock edge. Walter likes the catchy acoustic rhythms of bands like Third Eye Blind, Deep Blue Something and Matchbox Twenty. Put all these influences together and you get the "stick in your brain", "body moving" tunes of OSD. The lyrics go beyond the simple 'boy meets girl' and 'heartbreak of love'-type lyrics common in pop music today. Like their influences, their lyrics revolve more around individual feelings and goes beyond the everyday to express abstract emotions.
OSD's first album "Silver Lining" reminds one that every cloud has a silver lining. Even your darkest days can have happy conclusions. The sun is always shining, just that the grey clouds may get in the way sometimes. A break in the clouds will always occur. The timing is not always up to us, but as long as you are there when the time comes to bask in the sunlight, you will have found your silver lining and the happy conclusion to one strange day.

Group Members
Rainbow Starr- drums, A.K.A. Robert Filippelli (the artist formerly known as Flipper), known for his obsession of ChiChi, is recognized as the most musically knowledgeable of the bunch. With a no comprimises attitude when it comes to studio rules, this monkey has the ability to hold an illiterate band in tempo.
Bear- bass, A.K.A Adalbert Pimentel, is by far the hardest of the bunch, partying more than he practices. For a good time, you don't have to look further than this guy. Keeps it real and knows the power is in the image. As he once said, "Ask not what the scene can do for you, but what you can do for the scene..."
Stone - guitar, A.K.A. Anthony Stallone, "yes, we are distantly related but I have never had him over for dinner". He has quit the band more than once but keeps on coming back for the promise of scene. As someone who looks up to both Eric Clapton and Right Said Fred, he is constantly looking for his musical dream to come true, to sit down and listen to his music get played in a small club while tossing back a few beers.
Lifey - vocals, A.K.A. Walter Frattaroli, is the Ricky Martin of Canada. With the tight silk shirts, tinted shades and Euro jeans, he dances to every tune with confidence and showmanship. Comfortable in the spotlight, he is looking forward to touring the world and greeting its people in its native language (he speaks 5). It's Mexico or bust for this guy.....
