Artist description Kimberly Michaels is a different kind of artist. Shes mastered the art of creating mood with tone, pitch & melody. A versatile singer who delivers honesty, delivered with an intoxicatingly sexy vibe. Born in Seoul, South Korea, this adopted Korean became a native Minnesotan at just 6-months old. In Minnetonka, music entered her life early in her childhood. Classically trained in piano at the age of three, Kimberly earned her way into Opera, Jazz, R&B, and Pop societies. Later, she worked to school herself musically in between college, enduring several road tours and excursions, and via Los Angeles (where she lived for four years). Her more contemporary singing influences were Whitney Houston, Sade, Anita Baker, Chaka Khan, and Natalie Merchant. Today, Kimberly is a busy and respected Vocalist in & out of the Twin Cities. With the help of her partner, Charles Hayes, Kimberly is about to break out her first self-titled (Kimberly Michaels) solo album, and a single written by Kimberly at the age of 16 entitled “Destiny”. Charles’ true gifts shine through in his production, along with his versatility to write anything and everything from a world beat laced with orchestral beats to an old school 1920’s flavor tune pressed tightly into hip-hop drum tracks. Kimberly’s album is splattered with Charles’ dangerously fat live bass and live guitar tracks. He is truly a renaissance man & a gifted multi-instrumentalist. He is the driving force behind their projects. The two together should blow away any stereotype previously placed on Asians as Singers. When asked about her music Kimberly says, "Every song has to have originality, and it has to make sense: every note, every syllable, every phrase, every word. Usually I write from my own life experiences, but sometimes what I put down is a little more like creative story writing too." You can usually find Kimberly by following the gigs of the popular Twin Cities Band ‘The R-Factor’ (formerly Rupert’s Orchestra), the band she currently sings with.
