Artist History
GENOSSEN WERE FOUNDED IN REUTLINGEN, SOUTHWEST GERMANY, IN 1984 BY VIRUS (VOICE), SCHILLI
(BASS), SCHNELLER (GUITAR) AND MATSCH (DRUMS). THE FAST HARDCORE-PUNK OF GENOSSEN WITH ITS
ENGAGED, LEFTIST GERMAN LYRICS SOON DEVELOPPED A BIG FAN COMMUNITY ALL OVER GERMANY. AFTER
SEVERAL TOURS THROUGH GERMANY GENOSSEN WERE THE FIRST WESTERN PUNKBAND TO PLAY A
SOCIALIST COUNTRY, HUNGARY IN 1985. 3 CASSETTE-RELEASES ("GENOSSEN" 1985, "WEHRT EUCH" 1986
, "ANTICHRIST/GHULE" 1986), WHICH GOT GOOD CRITICS IN THE EUROPEAN AND
US-PRESS (FLIPSIDE, MAXIMUM ROCK'N ROLL), WERE FOLLOWED BY THE LEGENDARY 6-SONG-EP
"FIES" IN 1988 ON EMPTY-RECORDS. ON THIS EP MR-16 REPLACED MATSCH ON DRUMS. AT THE END OF 1988 THE
LINE-UP CHANGED AGAIN WITH KLAUSI ON DRUMS AND MARKUS ON BASS GUITAR. AFTER 2 MORE
CASSETTE-TAPES ("KEINE CHANCE" 1988, "DAS BOESE" 1989) THE BAND BROKE UP. |
