Artist History
Eightmilesoul is: Brad Hood (vocals, guitar), Derrick White (guitar, lower harmony), Erik Smith (background vocals/high harmony, bass guitar), and Allan Hood (percussion). Eightmilesoul was formed from the members of a band formed in late 1998 called Manifest Destiny. After a break-up in '99, Derrick and Brad decided to get together to play some praise and worship tunes. After recruiting Brad's kid brother Allan, on drums, they naturally progressed to more of a pop rock sound. Using catchy riffs and familiar melodies, they formed a new style of praise. Also, they played some more well-known contemporary songs to keep the audience humming along. In early 2001, they reunited with former Manifest Destiny band member, Erik Smith. Now on bass guitar, Erik added a new dimention to Eightmilesoul - harmony and the final touch that the band was missing. Derrick, finally moving from bass guitar to electric, got to play the lead riffs that he had so long waited to play. Allan, who was never fully excited about the more mellow praise and worship music began to evolve as a pop and rock drummer. And Brad got to experience a much fuller-sounding band behind his incredible voice. For all of those who don't know us, we are Eightmilesoul. For all of those who DO know us, tell the ones that don't. |
