Artist description
The band's influences range from classic rock to punk and new wave. Some would relate the music to that of early 90's power pop groups like the Doughboys, Mega City Four, Ned's Atomic Dustbin while others swear they hear a little Def Leppard breaking through. |

Press Reviews
Power-charged and ready to rock, Atlantic kick out the power chords with the Powerlunch EP, a concise disc crammed with loud guitars and grumbling vocals. Instead of leaving you tired and grumpy after a typical power lunch with the boss man, Powerlunch will revive you and leave you ready to take on the rest of the day’s menial tasks.
Building from powerful guitar chords, catchy bass lines, tight drumming and coarse lyrics, Atlantic has produced a fun and solid rock record. Abandoning the same old chorus/solo/bridge boredom that has plagued much of today’s bland rock, "Dresden" gets the record up and running with intense guitars and a funky bass line. Agitated power chords, tricky time signature changes and preoccupied lyrics relate feelings of being neither here nor there. Settling in for a steadier ride, "Retreat" follows with more power chords and intricate drumming, all the while maintaining a steady feel. On this track, Atlantic takes the traditional punk rock road and sounds similar to Face to Face. "Sleeve" speeds up a bit to escalate the album’s punk theme. More tight drumming and quick chords complement Jay Pollard's gritty vocals.
In this age of not-quite-post-punk/not-quite-(latest rock critic jargon for next musical movement), Atlantic bridges the gap from the tired to the new with a fun and refreshing sound. Have no fear -- Powerlunch won’t leave you sluggish and listless like other bands, or like meetings with c-workers. Instead, they’ll revive your over-worked, under-appreciated ass with a quick shot of rock. -- Melissa Morris, Splendid E-zine
