"...It'll shake ya the way Gawd intended ya to be shook." - Al Muzer The Aquarian Weekly Vol. 2-112 (Nov.14-21, 2001) Pneuma - The Hues Review by: Rob Wrong (StonerRock.com) 11 - song CD-R Release date: n/a Pneuma has a blend of different sounds...mostly drenched in good classic rock formula roots. Blues rock that reminds me of the early 70's...Deep Purple, Zeppelin, Budgie...the good stuff. Most of it is hard rock numbers with good melodic bluesy lead vocals that are very strong...excellent front voice. Tons of hard boogie blues guitar leads that can be compared to the sounds of Jimmy Page and Jimi Hendrix with a little jazz flash...blazing. GOod tight group of musicians during the crucial moments. The drums and bass are locked in a tight groove the whole time like clockwork...good and tight and a solid foundation. The songs themselves are all heavy rock, but there is some swelling moments of climax from mellower sounding parts. The changes remind me kind of like something Mammoth Volume would come up with. Fans of classic Stoner Rock will like this. It's all average hard rock song length and can be liked by fans of lots of tons of different bands. Reminds me of the same kind of stuff you might here The Rubes pull out...strong vocal songs...melodies and harmonies that are beautiful. It's not just your average re-hash stuff even though the riffs are quite classic influenced...it's got a good natural vibe that makes it more, well unique. File between Budgie and Sabbath or Monster Magnet and Mammoth Volume...you decide.
