Artist History
Set In Silence rose from the ashes of Nerveshot in January 2001. Featuring 3 of the original members of Nerveshot (Andy, Aaron & Luke) and 2 new guitarists (Terry from 50 Caliber & good friend Aaron)
We played our first show in March at the (now closed) Red Eye in Islington, London supporting U.K.H.C. stalwarts Underule. Our debut release “2001” was recorded in the same month at Adelaide Studios in Ongar, Essex, a 3 track effort fuelled by Hardcore aggression and supplemented with pure Metal power!Gigs followed supporting the likes Underule (again), OneDice, Sikth, Kilkus, Stoopi, Unite and Imprint (Hiding With Girls).
Terry left the band in the autumn of ’01 and we carried on as a 4 piece (though we soon realised the nature of our music required a second Guitarist)Appearing again in January ’02 after a 2-month hiatus, a rejuvenated Set In Silence (featuring new guitarist Dan) played their first gig of the year again supporting rising stars Sikth.Since the introduction of Dan, a new creative edge has been exposed in Set In Silence, no longer held back by the constraints of the Hardcore style, a fresh sound has come to the fore! A new C.D. was recorded in March ’02, again at Studio Adelaide, and has seen the band being compared to a cross between Converge, Dillenger Escape Plan, Eighteen Visions & Tool and being invited to tour the U.K. and Ireland! The name of Set In Silence is fast spreading around the country, promoters and fans alike are enquiring about a band which has not forced itself upon the public with an over-bearing attitude but let the music do the talking!
We parted ways with founding member and Guitarist Aaron in October 2002, his replacement being Rich Sansford (ex-Stoopi), who has added his unique writing style to an already strong mix!
2002 ended on a strong note when Rock Sound magazine included Set In Silence in their "Ones To Watch In 2003" feature!

Press Reviews
Probably some of the heaviest, yet most intelligent sounding music you'll have ever heard.
Possibly the best band in Essex!
"This is one of the maddest sets I have seen in a long while, this band impressed me at the Thurrock Music Festival without their lead singer, here at S.T.V. they have Andy and the band are obviously fired up.
Luke (Drums) looks like a cross between Joey Jordison and Vinnie Paul, he is that good! I am in awe just watching the guy play, let alone hearing him, which is a lot better! That's before we talk about the rest of the band, the two Aaron's pace around the stage completely intent on making Slayer look boring, and that they do with success. Andy is really quite amazing onstage, reminding me a lot of Earthtone9's Karl Middleton, and that is not a bad thing!
The band walk off stage and are CHASED, yes CHASED to the backstage area. Set In Silence give
their CDs away free, and they get rid of ALL of them. People are almost fighting for the last copies, and are pissed off when they run out. Andy is even asked to sign autographs, and someone tells Luke that he is their musical idol!
Most definitely the finished article and the best performance of the night. I have to respect any band that has the guts to follow that! (10,000,000/10)
If their live show is any indication, then the U.K. will have a band to really mess with the cream of the U.S. noise scene!
