    Artist description
Masculinity is a central obsession of contemporary American society. From the athlete of sports culture to the alpha male of action movie fare, popular media capitalizes on our fixation with the masculine by offering us countless embryonic actualizations of the heroic ideal. Sacha Sacket asserts his belief that heroes are defined by their desire and ability to “take spiritual purpose or deep inspiration and transform that into something material” and consequently seems to stand for a less-gendered concept of masculinity – one that is borne from personal vision and candor. His most recent inspiration is an exceptional album called Alabaster Flesh that summons to its use such inveterate forms as ancient mythology and astronomy in order to lend support to his reinvention of modern heroism. The result is a bold statement about one man’s quest for public and private authenticity, and authenticity that finds its source in looking not only within oneself for a sense of individuality, but to time-honored tractions for a sense of universality. Sacha’s musical style hearkens to both classical and modern models, resulting in a powerful new sonic invention all his own. Having begun singing at the age of six and performing piano on stage at the age eight, Sacha’s experience has allowed him to seamlessly fuse technical mastery and impassioned improvisation in his treatment of his voice and piano. His experience as a DJ for a radio show at the Los Angeles-based radio station KSCR influenced his passion for and familiarity with a wide variety of genres. Entertainment Today recognized this quality in his music by saying that he “plays the piano with reverence to the artists he evidently adores, but only in the quest for his own individual voice.” These varied genres find a new home in his music, a faultless mixture of electronic, fold, classical, and rock traditions. His acute sensitivity for each of these traditions lends context to his own unique musical treatment and culminates in a highly stylized and multi-textured soundscape. The end result of this musical collage is sensitive songwriting, emotive vocals, and adept piano playing set against a moody electronic backdrop. It has too long been a trend in modern music for self-proclaimed “genuine” artists to adopt stripped-down and under-produced sounds; Sacha defies this misnomer by building upon the foundations laid by his predecessors, ultimately emerging with a style all his own while at the same time remaining a truly genuine and spontaneous artist amidst a musical climate of premeditated cross-marketing.

    Artist History
Born on September 20, 1978, Sacha’s musical training began at six when the Sacket family first acquired an upright piano. Lessons followed and eventually failed only to inject an interest in Beethoven and performance recitals. Sacha started acting, singing, and playing piano in school performances at the age of six. Graduating high school as the lead in both plays and musicals, Sacha set out to USC to complete a double major in it’s acclaimed film and theater program. During his college years, Sacha began to appear in coffeehouses and small venues around LA becoming a mainstay in the under appreciated circuit. It is at this time that Sacha began to experiment with electronic soundscapes, eventually learning computer programming and guitar. Sacha has currently released his first album Alabaster Flesh in 2001 under Golden Sphinx Records and continues to experiment with different music and performance aesthetic. A West Coast tour is planned for the winter of 2001. His website can be found at http://www.sachasacket.com .

“Knocked my socks off … (Sacha) plays the piano with reverence to the artists he evidently adores, but only in the quest to find his own individual voice.” -Entertainment Today Elite Artist of the Month! “Sacha’s ability to draw his listeners into the music with the complexity and power of his lyrics makes this album all the more worthwhile. I’ll definitely be looking forward to seeing Sacha Sacket’s name rise to the top of the musical genius pile.” -The Global Muse Music Magazine, www.theglobalmuse.com
