    Artist History
Open till Midnight was born on Sunday November 25th 2001 when a group of strangers met to record a demo. In October 2001, 21-year-old singer/songwriter Chris Uchida had the sudden urge to record some songs that he had been writing. Since he did not have a band at the time, Chris invited members from his former bands to perform on a three-song demo. Chris Uchida – Chris first started writing simple piano songs when he was 13, but only recently started writing with a full band in mind. Although each of his songs has a completely different feel, they all shine with high flowing melodies and intriguing dissonance that resolve into memorable choruses. Chris is currently taking the concurrent education program at York University and is majoring in history with a minor in music. Paul Fabian - Paul and Chris first met in 1997 as members of the pit band for a high school production of the musical "The Wiz". The two played together in the schools Stage Band and soon formed the funk band "Funk U" in 1998. The band revolved around Paul's songs that really highlighted his incredible slap bass skill. As the best young bass player in Newmarket Ontario, Paul is constantly trying to improve his technique. For this project, Paul was the obvious choice to play bass. Currently studying engineering at McMaster University, Paul still plays with "Funk U" and the alternative band "Rob Hunter and the G Strings". Kris Moulton - Formerly the drummer in two of Chris's bands, "Billy's Balloon" and "Hint 12", Kris Moulton is one of the best young drummers in Nova Scotia. Based out of Halifax, Kris flew into Toronto in late November 2001 to appear on the demo. Chris and Kris first met in September 2000 during Frosh move in day at York University. Chris Uchida's band "Funk U" was supposed to perform as new students moved into Residence. Unfortunately, the band got in a car accident on the way and was unable to make the gig. Frantic to provide some form of entertainment, Chris saw a lanky red haired guy moving into his building carrying a cymbal bag. He asked Kris to perform with him, and 20 minutes later, they were on stage. Extremely dedicated, Kris is always looking for opportunities to play. A former member of the band "Halifax", Kris is currently performing in the east coast with "Jeff Gaye and the Distractions". Sam Rappos – As employees of Laser Quest, Chris and Sam knew each other for a long time before the two realized how much they had in common. They first played together as entertainment during a Laser Quest event in which the manager moved to the back room because they were too loud and he did not like rock music. From that point on, the two played in a number of bands including their Beatles cover band “Two Virgins”. Sam is an incredible musician who has an unmatched natural skill for writing harmonies. Since his vocal timbre is completely different from Chris’, it gives his harmonies the distinction they deserve. Sam is currently a law student at Osgoode in Ontario.
