Artist description
Our style has influences from across the spectrum.
Behind the vocal melodies and harmonies, we use acoustic and electric guitars, rhodes piano, drums,
and bass (and any other thing we can get our hands on that makes interesting sounds). The songs are
mellow, intense, quiet, explosive, fun, introspective, and honest. We value creativity holistically,
which means that we present more than just music. We create everything that has the name Mindhead
attached to it from the CD Art to the songs to the Web site to the concert flyers, each part represents
a different aspect of the whole, and it all comes from ideas birthed between us in the band and with
our greater community of friends. Also our friends and fans participate by making shirts, posters, signs,
etc. that they wear and bring to shows which is an invaluable part of Mindhead. Our fans rock. |

Artist History
Mindhead started in December 1999 under the name "Quando" with the members Joe Day, Jeff Morrow, Seth Fikkert, and Micah Kelley.
They formed as Joe Day had booked a solo show but didn't want to play solo so he asked Jeff and Seth to rehearse with him.
Soon after, Micah was attending rehearsals and the first show was in January of 2000. They played a handful of shows before
changing the name to "Mindhead." In the early summer of 2000, Mindhead became a trio after creative differences lead to the band
asking Micah to move on. They played many shows over the course of the next 8 months as a trio and then asked their friend
Jonathan Orange to join and play guitar, rhodes, and background vocals. The addition of Jono proved to be a great move
for the band as he brought so much to the band in terms of friendship, musicianship, and personality. However, in August of
2001, Jono left for Bellmont University in Tennessee to study Music Business, still a part of the band. Currently, Mindhead
deals with the absence of Jono by continuing to play shows whether he's in Nashville or at home. Mindhead is releasing their
first CD called, "Things Here Are Fine," on December 15th and is also booking shows to support the release. |
