Artist description People, we're not going to lie to you. Fooled By April is a fun band, but a pain in the ass to describe. Some people say that they're sort of like the bastard son of Cheap Trick and Fountains Of Wayne, while others compare them more to what the Clash might have been had they listened to a lot more KISS. Perhaps the most apt label that has been applied to them is "Hi-Fi Garage," acknowledging that as much as they bring a ragged rock-and-roll enthusiasm to their music, it is always tempered by the need to get those four-part harmonies just right. Though they may be hard to describe, Fooled By April really is just what happens when two kids from Texas, who grew up harmonizing on everything from R&B to Crowded House, move to New England and start playing with a couple of guys who honed their skills in Aerosmith cover bands. And this fall Fooled By April is a band on the go. In October the band is celebrating the self-release of its new six-song Ep, Nice to See You, produced by Mike Daly (Whiskeytown) and recorded with Tim Bright (Lisa Loeb). Currently the band is promoting the new record the way they always have, with relentless touring of the Northeast and Midwest — a schedule that has already brought them to showcases at the CMJ Music Festival in New York City, the NEMO Festival in Boston, the Midpoint Music Festival in Cincinnati and the prestigious South by Southwest Festival in Austin, TX.
