Artist History
The beginnings of Fallout Boy date back to the fall of 2001. John had seen Chris play in I Voted For Kodos back in the day, and when they bumped into each other on Dupre 5 at Macalester College, John said “Hey, did you play in I Voted For Kodos?” Chris responded with something to the effect of “Word,” and a beautiful friendship was born. Chris had met Mikey on the floor while moving in, at which point they decided to jam and be best friends. The band’s first practice consisted of John, Chris, and Mikey playing Green Day and Blink covers in Chris’s cell-like room, after which they dubbed themselves Drummer Wanted, intending to have fliers for upcoming shows double as advertisements for a percussionist.
Drummer Wanted decided to expand its musical horizons and seek a new sonic direction when Mitch joined the band on drums. Numerous name changes, including Turbomanslut, Plucking the Banjo, Double Clicking the Mouse, Spreading the Beef Curtains, Wink 141, and Alien Ant Farm, and countless break-ups followed. Chris suggested Fallout Boy, and the next day John was watching The Simpsons, and it was the episode where Milhouse becomes Fallout Boy in the Radioactive Man movie. Thus, by this prophetic omen from on high, the band was decreed Fallout Boy. Fallout Boy played its first show on Saturday, Nov. 10th, during International Fallout Boy week, and is touring the Macalester campus in honor of IFB Week.
The Band is poised to take on the greater Twin Cities area. Also, Fallout Boy is hoping that Mitch, whose dad’s brother’s best friend’s mailman’s former roommate’s nephew is one of the guys in Jimmy Eat World, can get the band on tour with Weezer, Jimmy Eat World, and Tenacious D. They’re keeping they’re fingers crossed.
