Artist description
Exactly half a life ago, on May 15, 1975, I drove across the Bay Bridge from San Francisco to El Cerrito and managed not to remember a mile of it. Soaked in vomited white wine and cake, I was returning from a celebration marking the release of my (first, last and only) album for Columbia Records. Like nearly all "new artists", I lacked steadfastness of purpose but , frankly, I also lacked the commanding talent and eerie good fortune needed for success in a lively business. I know now that, had I succeeded then, I would not be alive now.
We usually know what we want, but we seldom know what will make us happy.
Twice as old but only half again wiser, my goals are modest. I have about a dozen new songs ready to go now with about that many more in the oven between my ears. I have accumulated some respectable home recording equipment with which I labor in love.
Thanks to Charlie Hickox and his beautiful wife, Patrice, for their help and encouragement as I continue to relearn a craft once dominated by magnetic tape, single-edged razor blades and LP records.
