As a young boy, Don Sikkema studied voice with Ms. Minnie Ostrom of Cadillac, Michigan. He also studied with Mrs. Trena Haan of Grand Rapdis, Michigan. Later, in Chicago, he studied voice with Mr. Walter Kirchner and coached with the well known pianist, Mr. William Browning. Mr. Sikkema holds a BA in music from Grand Valley State Univsersity, Allendale Michigan and a Master of Music in voice from the American Conservatory of Chicago. His abiding interest in the art song has led him to participate in master classes with Gerard Souzay, Elly Ameling, Dalton Baldwin and John Wustman. A frequent recitalist, Mr. Sikkema has performed Schumann's song cycle, Dichterliebe, with William Browning in Chicago and with Mr. Charles Aschbrenner, professor of piano at Hope College, in Holland, Michigan.
