Artist description
In the last decade of the twentieth century Scotland finally came of age,
for it was in 1999 that a Scottish parliament was elected - the first for
three hundred years. Under the assured leadership of Donald Dewar, a genuine
Scottish hero and a titan amongst politicians, a proud nation straightened
its kilt, squeezed its bagpipes and marched boldly into the bright new
millennium. And if there was a certain rhythmic spring in their step it was
thanks to the music of the Edinburgh-based group The Traitors.
The Traitors were formed amidst the new optimism and social change
of this unprecedented era. Their finely crafted songs spoke to an entire
generation cruelly starved of relevant and intelligent music. Country and
Western. Rock and Roll. Garage. Grunge. Power ballads. Hardcore in-your-face
Gangsta rap. The Traitors mastered every genre.
Regrettably they played few gigs but when they did venture onto
stage their adoring public were always left speechless, unable to express
their almost religious respect. Indeed nowadays even the most intense
Traitors fan will prefer to deny all knowledge of the group rather than come
to terms with the heartbreaking reality of their premature split.
The Traitors absolutely would not compromise their profound artistic
vision. At times they would sacrifice technical competence, to say nothing
of sobriety, in their quest for creative integrity. In their brief career
The Traitors amassed a staggering catalogue of work, of which this selection
of songs is but a tantalizing glimpse. The results may challenge your
preconceptions of what entertainment should be. You may even be left
emotionally scarred. But ultimately you will be stronger for it.
Let The Traitors rock your world.
Bring it on! |

Debut album 'The Traitors' was completed at the end of 1998. White Star was released in April 1999, containing new material written and recorded very quickly to hopefully provide lyrics, riffs, and melodies for future work. Cop Killers and Trouser Aggressor were released during 2000 in a similarly vien to White Star with more emphasis being placed on outragious lyrical content. Alcohology was compiled from outtakes during 2001. |
