Artist description
Heth is a young man from New York City who understands that pop music isn't just a parade of brand-new things it's about reinvention too. Moving from band to band and switching from drums to guitar Heth found his voice and style playing in the downtown clubs of New York City and also in it's cavernous subway system. Heth began to experiment with guitar pedals that loop sounds and layer parts. This enabled him to sound like a full band on his own and gave rise to the songs on his new effort.
On Clean Heth has taken his streetwise, urban, upbringing and encapsulated it in to a masterpiece of glittering, romantic notes and consoling words. Co-produced and mixed by Jamie Candiloro (REM, Courtney Love), Heth recorded the collection's songs with multi-instrumentalist and brother, Jed Weinstein in his New York City living room.
Clean kicks off with "Falling Together" which is all rippling sunbursts of synth and acoustic guitar. "My Headphones" is a beautiful and modern look at lost love with sensitively plucked chords and Freedy Johnson style slide in the swelling choruses. But it's Heth's quavering, weak-with-lust vocal that makes it irresistible. In "Life's A Photograph" the chorus states Life's a Photograph I'm not in, in which Heth sounds like he is moving ever closer to the end of his tether. Yet In "So Easy" lush sweeps of synth wash over acoustic guitar and computerized clicks to form soothing waves like cool weather after the summer.
"I've been able to be as creatively free as I wish on the record," says Heth. "I just do my thing and hopefully the honesty of it translates."
