Artist description
The Tudor Consort sets the standard for early choral music: an innovative approach to repertoire selection and interpretation, accuracy of presentation through historical reconstruction, and an emphasis on choral excellence through superb balance, blend and vocal technique.
Formed in February 1986 with the intention of performing lesser known music from the Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque periods, with particular emphasis on English music of the 16th and early 17th centuries, the group's directors have included founder Simon Ravens and leading New Zealand musicians Peter Walls and Ivan Patterson; the group's current director is cantor Alastair Carey.
