Press Reviews
From Columbusmusic.com regarding the bands performance at the OSU Big Free Concert:(05/14/02) "The Spiker-Konesky Band started the show at 4:30pm. The band has quickly developed a somewhat loyal following (mainly female) from creating a musical mixture of soulful singing, R&B melodies and funky, clean-guitar against the emotional and pensive lyrics of front man John Spiker. The band kicked through a 40 minute set of originals that highlighted Spiker's soulful singing. The kid has pipes and a gymnastic like ability to improvise in the higher ranges not unlike the famous boy bands of today." From Columbusmusic.com (03/08/02): " There was no shortage of appreciative women for The Spiker-Konesky band at Little Brothers last Friday as the band swoon the ladies with soulful/gospel like vocals and clean/funky guitar successions formulated into radio friendly pop diddys. Its clear the band is aligning itself for mainstream radio and lead singer John Spiker seemed a natural on stage with good movement and interaction with the audience. Konesky didn't hesitate on shredding guitar solo's for each song. The band opened for an out of town band called Oval Opus. This was a well thought out bill by Spiker Konesky because of their funky/pop similarities. Opus bordered on the 80's pop format while Spiker Konesky had more of a modern jazzy feel to it."
