Artist description
"Jump Back" was inspired by the spirit of the people here in NYC and the memory of those who left us. It was created as a small way of saying thank you for all of the bravery and graciousness we've all witnessed in these difficult days since the 9/11/01 a ttack.› |

Artist History
David First is a pop singer-songwriter/guitarist and electronic music composer who lives and records two blocks from Ground Zero in New York City. He has played his music in some of the darkest dives, as well as in the most prestigious concert halls in both New York City and many other parts of the planet. Sometimes he does this by himself - accompanying himself on guitar and laptop - and sometimes he does this with a wide range of supporting instrumentalists from all over the genre spectrum. First has a new CD coming out early in 2002 entitled, "Universary" which will further explore his special blend of plaintive melodies, twitching grooves, and hypnotic drone structures.
The All-Moons are a group of DF's special musical friends (and some of the best s ingers and players in NYC) who came together especially for this project.
A CD version of "Jump Back" is being given out every day to visitors at Ground Zero. It is also being, distributed to local firehouses, police, cabdrivers, subway riders, local mer chants, tourists, as gifts at 9/11/01 benefits, etc. A Red Cross worker witnessed the song being played repeatedly on one of the busses transporting grieving families down to the memorial service which took place at the WTC site on October 28th. On No vember 30th we will be performing "Jump Back" at the UN. If anyone would like some CD copies for their local firehouse, a benefit, etc., please contact DF.l |

Press Reviews
"From budding folkies looking for catharsis to pop stars looking for good PR, there will be no shortage of songs inspired by September 11. One attractive entry to the rapidly burgeoning canon comes from David First, a protean guitarist and composer known foremost for his classical experiments. First lives a mere two and a half blocks from Ground Zero and recorded this pop song at home weeks after the attack. Spirited, uplifting, and honest, it makes a nice candidate for a time-capsule piece about this aut umn."
