Artist History
the zenith is the long-term collaboration between several established tallahassee, florida
artists who have been releasing material on the cd-r label scalethewalls since 1998. the zenith's
rapidly recorded and mp3 distributed first twenty albums have ranged in diversity from japanese-noise
inspired experimental electronic to lo-fi country to shoegazey IDM. after receiving international air
play on college and other alternative radio and internet venues (including nearly 9,000 downloads
from mp3.com) the band gave its 'back' catalog to spartanburg, south carolina experimental label
uterine fury. in 2001 they compiled a sound collage of their early works entitled 'on a mission
from god.' by the end of last year, the zenith had unveiled a somewhat more accessible indie-pop
sound in 'history punishes those who leave last.'
the early months of 2002 have seen the completed recordings
of three more experimental pop albums, including an opera and
a compilation of remixes/collaborations with other local artists.
these newer albums are being distributed and promoted by the local
milktoast records label (current home of plastic mastery, believe
in toledo, and the monorail). the zenith are currently booking a tour
of the north american southeast (or, parts formerly known as the confederacy) and new england (or, yankee land)
for the summer of 2002.
