Artist description
During the tense and controversial stand off at the Branch Davidian complex, a new siege tactic was unveiled and the world was first exposed to the music of Sourpuss. Crafty and cutting edge ATF agents used the band's demos to startle and confuse the Davidians. Many network news reports were quick to pick up on the raw and undeniable sound of Sourpuss: "Like a high impact musical Tsunami without the debris or wetness," said one field officer running the PA system. Yes, the rumors are true. These guys do subsist entirely on a diet of candy with a sour taste. It started as a gimmick, but each of their digestive systems have devolved to allow band members to absorb all possible nutrients from a pack of Gummy Bears. |

Artist History
Amir Zitro, Sourpuss bassist was conceived backstage at a piano recital. He calls their sound "Phunky Folk Popcore...a pop core of funky folk." Drummer/Lead Singer JJ Jenkins has played with a bunch of guys that you've heard of, but you'll know more when he publishes his tell-all biography this winter. Early drafts indicate that he is prepared to tell ALL. Even a bunch of stuff that he made up, but it’s all true. Guitarist Terry Goss was handpicked from a small list of guitarists who were able to follow the vague directions to the audition - which occurred at his own studio anyway. He brought only his tuning spork, and letters of introduction from former bands: Day & Age, Middlefinger, Swaybone and Dork - as well as his other current band, 401k. All denied ever having known him, of course. Guitarist Sam Molnar was found that same night, hiding under the PA babbling unintelligibly about something. Handed an old guitar just so he would shut up, he started showing up at every rehearsal, on time. So it goes. |

Press Reviews
"The title says it all; Sourpuss isn't your typical American rock band. Their style is more of a European sound, but one that is sure to please American tastes. Unamerican Institution has some great vocals, energetic and well written songs, and a lot of new and refreshing ideas that are a welcome release from the stagnation and commercialization of modern music. Sourpuss is the type of band that isn't afraid to take chances and play what they want to play."- Rage Magazine, Miami FL |
