" I have played on enough recordings for other people and just wanted to do a CD for myself. So I asked all my favorite studio cats to join me. We had a great time. The newest release from drummer Joe Morris is a fine blend of cool fusion and contemporary jazz sylings featuring exquisite drumming, dancing percussion and a host of talented musicians. Aptly titled "Joe Morris and Friends" this is a fine circle of friends to associate with. A mixture of blaring horns, ripping electric guitar leads, and of course, magnificent drum and percussion work make for a grooving good time. Morris's drumming is powerful and exciting, subtle and smooth, and entirely engaging. Morris skillfully sets the tone and pace for each composition, providing the perfect accompaniment with exactitude and class. Morris is a professional drummer, author, instructor, clinician and equipment endorser with miles of credentials, and is apparently spending most of his waking hours in the studio. In addition he can be heard drumming for a number of popular television and movie scores including "Millenium" "Promised Land" "Chicago Hope", and "Touched by an Angel" to name but a few. He is head of the music department at the Conservatory of Recording and is presently working on numerous albums with independent artists. A 1999 release with bassist Ray Riendeau "All Funked UP" is a must have for drummers and bass players. Joe Morris is a drummer's drummer, with an extensive list of credentials and accomplishments. But what is most enviable is that he truly seems to love his work and that is certainly reflected in what he brings to the table in each composition on "Joe Morris and Friends" He also seems to have a ton of fun in the process. Most of us have heard Joe Morris's work without even realizing it. "Joe Morris and Friends" gives us the opportunity to meet him again, for the first time. CHECK IT OUT!!!
