Artist description
Impostor Syndrome is a Manhattan-based rock trio established in 1999 by lead singer/songwriter/guitarist Kristen Persinos. The band has an original sound that mixes hard-hitting rock with haunting melodies and addictive choruses. Impostor Syndrome is often noted for its unpredictable song structures and chord progressions, while still remaining accessible to mainstream rock. Persinos's unique vocal style, sometimes powerfully belting it out and other times bending the melody softly and slyly, is complemented by her aggressive guitar playing, as she switches adeptly between rhythm and lead. Steve Kerr on bass offers up simple, catchy, melodic bass lines, while his back-up vocals blend seamlessly with Persinos's lead vocals. Holding it all together is hard hitter Ross Kantor whose sensitivity to dynamics serves the songs' peaks and valleys.
The band regularly plays shows in NYC at venues such as Arlene's Grocery, the Continental, the C-Note, and the Elbow Room to name a few.

Press Reviews
Indie-music.com "What’s so great about this sampler is Kristen
Persino’s pure, wholesome-sounding voice. It’s
like the cheerful announcer in a furniture-polish
commercial suddenly stepped out of the TV,
grabbed a guitar, and started fronting a cynical,
driven guitar rock trio..." |
